Knowing What to Do Next: How QuoteMe Prepares a Support Route
Understanding a problem is useful. Preparing an appropriate next step is what makes that understanding practical. Different technology problems need different kinds of support.

- Prepare the route; confirm the service separately
- Know when more automation is not useful
- The founder lesson
In this founder development series, we explain the design and implementation behind QuoteMe. Future work is identified as development direction; an implemented component does not establish that every deployment or customer outcome has been verified.
One symptom can lead to several routes
A device that will not power on may need physical assessment. An account configuration problem may be suitable for remote help. A business asking for a new workflow or website needs a project discussion. Sending all three enquiries through the same path would create avoidable back-and-forth.
The useful question is not “Can AI choose an answer?” It is “What information is needed before the team can discuss a suitable support route?” Device condition, location, urgency, data concerns and customer preference can all matter.
Predictable rules behind the conversation
QuoteMe’s action policy uses structured conversation state to select a permitted next action. It can ask another question, show useful choices, prepare a review or direct a situation towards human help. The language model does not receive unrestricted control over these actions.
This distinction matters when the wording sounds certain but the details are incomplete. The system should still require the relevant facts and respect its allowed actions. We want the same conditions to lead to the same permitted next step, rather than a different commercial decision each time an AI reply changes.
Prepare the route; confirm the service separately
The completion policy has preparation paths for workshop, onsite and remote handovers, project review and general requests. A prepared route is a starting point for review. It is not a confirmed appointment or a statement that a particular service will definitely solve the fault.
For customers in Epping, Wollert, Mernda, South Morang and surrounding areas, availability and suitability still need checking. A technician may recommend a different approach after reviewing the symptoms or inspecting the device.
Know when more automation is not useful
Some situations require a person rather than more commercial questions. Safety concerns and uncertain or incomplete requests need an appropriate handover. The aim is to reduce the distance to useful help, not to keep every customer inside an automated chat.
Our reviewed request guide explains how information carries forward. The customer can check that information before it reaches the team, and the team can explain what needs further assessment.
The founder lesson
AI can help interpret an explanation. Rules should define the limits of what the software may do with it. That combination makes a service journey easier to reason about and test.
Next we look at giving the system limited tools to check useful information, while keeping booking, payment and final authorisation outside that tool authority.
Frequently asked questions
Does a suggested route confirm an appointment?
No. A suggested route prepares a request for review. Suitability and availability need confirmation.
Can QuoteMe help with business software enquiries?
Yes. Describe the workflow or software need so the team can review whether a project discussion is appropriate.
