Netflix is buffering on the smart TV in the lounge room which may be 10+ metres from the router with walls in between, and receiving a signal only strong enough for 5–10 Mbps — not enough for 4K. The fix: connect the TV directly to the router via Ethernet cable (most smart TVs have an Ethernet port), or place a mesh WiFi node in the same room as the TV. 4K Netflix requires a sustained 25 Mbps to the specific device.
