Pickup and return service terms

Clear terms for northern-suburbs device collection, custody, return, senior pickup pricing and handover.

Last updated: 3 September 2026

1. When pickup is available

Pickup and return is an optional service offered only where our current coverage, capacity, device type and service type allow it. QuoteMe may check a suburb and postcode and show a current pickup price. That check does not itself create or confirm a booking.

A pickup booking is confirmed only when we confirm the collection day or arrival window, the address and the applicable pickup charge or price basis.

2. Pricing and senior pickup rates

Pickup pricing is based on the governed service area and rate shown or confirmed for the booking. If a displayed price changes before the booking is confirmed, we will tell you the revised amount before you agree.

A senior pickup rate is a voluntary concession. QuoteMe does not require date-of-birth, pension-card or identity-document proof for that option. We may reasonably clarify eligibility before confirming a discounted booking, but we will not use the senior option to reduce any statutory right.

3. Who can arrange a pickup

You may arrange pickup for yourself or, where you have authority, for another person. A family member, carer, support person, organisation or other helper who arranges the service is not automatically responsible for payment unless that person or organisation expressly agrees to be the payer.

Before discussing private service details or releasing the device, we may reasonably verify the identity or authority of the person receiving information or taking the device.

4. Before we take custody

At handover we may record the device description, identifying details, accessories, visible condition, power status where reasonably testable, the person handing it over and the custody reference. Please tell us about important existing damage, missing parts, liquid exposure, battery swelling, passwords that should not be used and any accessory you do not want collected.

Pickup does not approve paid repair work beyond any assessment or scope already agreed. Where a quote or changed scope is required, that work begins only after the applicable approval.

5. Australian Consumer Law repair notice

Where the Australian Consumer Law requires a repair notice, we provide it in writing before accepting the goods for repair. For products that can store user-generated data, the notice states that repair may cause the data to be lost.

If refurbished parts may be used, or refurbished goods may be supplied instead of repairing the goods, the repair notice includes the wording required by the Australian Consumer Law. The pickup handover keeps a record that the notice was presented and acknowledged.

6. Care while the device is with us

We will take reasonable care of the device and recorded accessories while they are in our custody and will provide the service with due care and skill. We are not responsible for a pre-existing fault merely because it becomes apparent after collection, but nothing in these terms excludes liability for loss or damage caused by our breach, negligence or other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Electronic repair can involve data risk even when reasonable care is used. Back up important data where reasonably possible. Any applicable Australian Consumer Law repair notice and consumer guarantees continue to apply.

7. Return and authorised recipients

We will normally return the device to the customer or another authorised recipient at the agreed location. We may ask for reasonable identity or authority confirmation before releasing a device. If nobody authorised is available, we may keep the device safely and arrange another return.

Do not ask us to leave a device unattended at a door, mailbox or other unsecured place unless we expressly agree to a safe handover method. We may refuse an unsafe or unverifiable handover.

8. Failed pickup, cancellation and redelivery

If a confirmed collection cannot proceed because no authorised person is available, materially incorrect address or access information was supplied, access is unsafe, or the device is not available, a disclosed and reasonable attendance charge may apply. We do not apply such a charge where the failure is ours or where the law gives you a right to cancel without it.

If a return cannot be completed, any further redelivery or storage cost must be disclosed, reasonable and lawful. See the Booking and cancellation policy.

9. Uncollected devices

If a device cannot be returned or remains uncollected after reasonable contact attempts, we may require payment of amounts lawfully due for agreed work, transport or reasonable storage. We may deal with uncollected goods only in accordance with applicable Victorian law, including any required notice and holding period. We do not obtain ownership merely because the device remains uncollected.

10. Privacy and senior/family support

We collect only the information reasonably needed to arrange pickup, keep the device secure and return it to the right person. Senior support does not require online proof of age or pension status. Please avoid providing health, disability or mobility information unless it is genuinely needed for safe service delivery. See the Privacy policy.

11. Australian Consumer Law rights

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified under the Australian Consumer Law or another applicable law.

Our services come with consumer guarantees including due care and skill, fitness for a disclosed purpose where applicable and supply within a reasonable time where no time is fixed.
