Sign 1: Short Battery Life
A new laptop battery typically provides 6–10 hours of real-world use. When that drops to under 3 hours, the battery has degraded significantly. Under 2 hours usually means capacity is below 60% — replacement is recommended.
Sign 2: Swelling or Bulging
A physically swollen battery is a fire hazard and should be replaced immediately. You'll notice the trackpad or keyboard lifting, or a visible bulge on the laptop base. Stop using the device and contact us urgently.
Sign 3: Unexpected Shutdowns
If your laptop shuts down suddenly at 15–30% battery remaining — not at 0% — the battery's ability to maintain voltage under load has failed. This is a clear sign of battery degradation.
Sign 4: Inaccurate Battery Percentage
If the battery percentage jumps erratically — e.g., from 40% to 10% instantly — the battery's charge estimation circuits have failed. This is a calibration or cell failure issue that won't improve without replacement.
How to Check Battery Health
On Windows: Open Command Prompt as Administrator and type 'powercfg /batteryreport' then press Enter. Open the generated report in a browser. Look at 'Design Capacity' vs 'Full Charge Capacity' — anything below 80% of design capacity indicates it's time to replace. On Mac: Hold Option and click the battery icon in the menu bar.
